Road To Higher Ranks Counter Strike: Global Offensive

There are some different ways of reaching the higher ranks on Counter Strike: Global Offensive, one for example is getting boosted. But if you really want the rank you "deserve" you shouldn't get carried every game. You can't rely on your teammates every game, your individual skill is very important to get ranked up.

One important fact is that what I found the most difficult was to rank up from Distinguished Master Guardian, When I have played against supremes, globals and eagle masters they are usually easier to play against than a group of Distinguished Master Guardian. This is my personal opinion. But if you rank up from DMG you have entered the "high" skill group. If you have the skills to rank to Legendary Eagle you can rank to supreme or global! Believe in yourself.

So lets step into the "guide" for how to reach the higher ranks on Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

These are all the ranks that exists as it is now:

  1. Play a lot. This way you will get a more developed game sense, the more experience you have the more right calls you will make. You can also develop a game sense by watching lots of streams and try to copy their style to play or combine it with your own style and make a combined style.

  2. Learn what all the spots are called. Spots can have several names so make sure you know several names for the spots. This way you know where they are, where they could be peeking so you don't go and die 'cause of some stupid peek when a teammate have called that there is someone there.

  3. You have to know what to do at certain situations, save or go for it. This can be crucial for some rounds, is it better to save a gun? go in and lose the weapon? but maybe clutch the round. This is something you have to decide together with the team, can you clutch? Do we need the weapon next round? Do we have the money to buy next round? Think before you just obliviously go in and lose weapons and rounds. The more experience you got the easier these decisions will be, don't listen blindly on the teammates you have to be able to do this decision for yourself as well but take your teammates opinion into consideration.

  4. Play with friends and play as a premade group. This way it's a lot easier to rush and do tactics as T and it's easier to hold as CT because it's easier to give info. If you are with your group in a voice chat. A couple of good voice chats: Ventrilo, Mumble, Teamspeak and Raidcall.  Raidcall is probably the best option if you don't have a server or a private room on the other three. Skype also works fine but can get annoying since the microphones are always on and you hear the noises everyone makes. But use the one that most of your friends uses, it's easier that way. Communication is the key to success

  5. Get a better aim and reflexes. This can be done by playing arena 1v1 (I usually plays arena 1v1 HS only since it's a little bit more fun that way) for example. One of the more popular ways is to play the training_aim_csgo2 map that is community made (all credits to the creators) this map is made in both a dark and a light theme. Here you can pick from several modes that trains your reflexes and aiming, pick the weapon of your choice and go for it. I really enjoy warming up on this map because it's very relaxing, it's not intense like 1v1 arena. I will post some screenshots from this map later. The goal is to hit targets that gets shown on a big board and you can decide from which range you are going to shoot from. Play this and take it to the 1v1 arena servers and see if you have improved your aim.

  6. The most important step, is to have fun while playing!! Don't let one game throw you down, everyone got bad games once in a while.

  7. Setup. How you sit and what gear you have is not important, sure if you have bad gear you will improve by buying better gear. It's important that you sit comfortably and have a setup you like. This is personal and everyone got their own unique way. Find your setup! Something that made me step up my game was when I bought my steelseries sensei to replace my steelseries kana mouse. I will go into my setup later in this blog.

I will post some screenshots from the aim map. I don't have the latest version, my version lacks the m4a1 for example.
